P1 COURSE - THE BASIC
PARAGLIDING TRAINING COURSE (FOR BEGINNERS)
Introduction
Wings & Flights, offers its
training facilities to anyone aspiring to learn the art of Paragliding.
The highly experienced Instructors and pilots at Wings & Flights
have been flying and training people to fly paragliders for the past
17 years. They have successfully trained more than 1500 students and
continue to do so. The extensive use of radios and safety equipment
during instructions at this institute has made Paragliding
a safe sport. Specialised classroom lectures are conducted for Flying
club members.
The
Training Program
Practicing is the best part of learning. So your practical training
is our top priority. You are carefully guided - Physically and intellectually.The
joy that you derive from the flying sport, increases exponentially,
as you gain knowledge and develop new flying skills. You spend about
four hours each day learning various skills of Paragliding. At the end
of the course you will be flying independently and knowledgably. (under
the supervision of a senior Instructor)
Course Duration
: Three days.
Venue : Hadapsar, Pune, India
Time of the day : Either early morning or evening.
Duration per day : Two to three hours
Acheivement
a) At least 6 solo flights guaranteed (From a height of 100 feet to
1000 feet depending upon your comfort level)
b) Knowledge and understanding on Paragliding
Requirements:
a) Age over 14 years up to the age of medical fitness
b) Minimum qualification Std. Xth
c) Medically and Physically fit
You will be required to submit the following:
a) Six Stamp size photographs
b) Fees on the day of enrollment

Day-wise training brief
Day one
The first day is spent in orientation, ground handling and the theory
necessary to keep you safe and informed. During ground training you
are taught : Various parts of the glider, lift-off of the glider for
take-off run, Controlling the glider overhead, getting the feel of
controls, preparing you for your solo flights.
Day two
On the second day you are introduced to flying. You make your first
Solo flights. These flights are up to a height of 100 feet, 300 feet
and 500 feet progressively. A team of
four, consisting of two Instructors, two asst. Instructors will be
engaged in training you. To impart qualitytraining
we take not more than 3 students per batch. By the end of this session
you would have learnt during your solo flights:
Pre-flight checks; Take-offs,
climb and gain of altitude; Gentle turns during glide; straight approach
for landing, Smooth landing. Repeat two more flights of 300 feet and
500 feet
Day three
The third day you are taught all the necessary theory required for high
flights. On this day the main emphasis is on learning how to take-off
with less assistance. At this stage you have gained confidence on your
equipment and you have a fair judgment of the entire flight.
Today you'll reach a height of
1000 feet. (from this height you'll be able to view the beauty of Pune
city). Instructors will closely and continuously keep a track on the
progress of your flying performance. More and more complex flying tasks
are introduced progressively.
This session will see you through:
Take-off all by yourself; Gentle to moderate 360 degree turns; Glider
angle & Spot landing judgement.
Apart from the above you have the advantage of learning the theory of
flight with the help of Audio visual teaching aids. This is a non commercial
club purely for the lovers of flying. You
may become the member of this club. The club has a small library of
video CD's/DVDs, books & flying magazines and
an indoor games room. You'll gain lots of information on various types
of flying.
FAQ's (Frequently asked questions)
- Who can learn Paragliding?
You should be at least 15 years old, physically fit and weigh between
35 to 90 Kgs.
- What are the training timings?
The timing is dependent on weather. Early mornings are preferred because
the weather remains cool and consistent with safety. The
first day the ground training will start at 4 pm upto sunset with
a small theory lecture. Flying training timings are from 6:30 am to
9 am.
- What about people with little time to
spare?
There are weekend courses for busy people and college going students.
You may mention your preferred days/dates. We'll
do our best to accommodate you on those days.
- Is the training course carried out in
one stretch of 3 days?
First two days are necessarily in one stretch, i.e one evening and
one early mornings. The third day could be scheduled according to
your convenience.
- What else should I know?
After completion of the Beginner course you may continue practice
flying by paying a nominal fees.
A special Ground Handling Course is also available for those who want
to sharpen their ground handling technique.
