THE PARAGLIDING TRAINING COURSE (P-2 level)

Soon after you have completed the P-1 level paragliding course you may enroll the P-2 level Paragliding Course. However it is necessary to enroll for this course within four months after the completion of the P-1 level course. If the gap is more than this then you will have to undergo a familiarization course for a day or so.

The Training Program

The institute will provide all the necessary training and safety equipment. This course will be the first step towards the intermediate flying. Classroom lectures will be conducted on the request of the students. Necessary textbooks will be made available for reference over a deposit of Rs. 200/-. All the days are practical flying days. You will be introduced to soaring flights. Most of the flying will be conducted on the intermediate flying sites.

This five-day course is conducted on intermediate hills either in Pune or Kamshet. The venue will depend on the wind direction. At the end of the course you will be soaring independently. (without the supervision of the Instructor)



Course Duration : Five days
Venue : Hills around Hadapsar or Kamshet
Time of the day : Either morning 7 to 9:30 am or Evening 3:30 pm to Sun set
Duration per day : Two to three hours
Fees : 12,500/- (Foreigners Rs. 13,500)

Requirements:
a) Should have completed the P-1 level course
b) Medically and Physically fit

Day-wise training syllabus

Day one
The first day is spend in orientation, advanced ground handling techniques and theory of flight necessary for intermediate flying. This course is not much physically demanding instead lots of fun flying on bigger hills. On this day you are taught the following exercise:
a) Forward launch method
b) Reverse launch method
c) Reverse to forward and forward to reverse turnings.
d) Controlling the glider on the hill top.
e) Smooth take-off runs
f) Theory of flight necessary to fly on bigger hills
g) Controlling and collapsing of the glider in stronger wind conditions
h) Various methods of folding the glider

Day two
On the second day you are introduced to flying on bigger hills of a 1000 feet. You make your first big flights. Some of these flights may take you upto 1500 to 2000 feet high, but progressively. Here you will be introduced to soaring flights. A team of instructor and assistants will be helping and guiding you throughout your flights. You could observe other students flying along with you. By the end of this session you would have learnt:

a) Flight planning
b) Controlling and launching from bigger hills
c) Getting introduced to soaring flight
d) Crabbing technique of flying

Day three
The third day you are taught all the necessary skill to take of independently. Various techniques of soaring are taught. On this day the main emphasis is on learning how to stay for a longer time flying up in the sky. The instructor will guide you throughout your soaring flight. He will try to keep you as long as possible in the air. At the end of the day, various flying safety related topics will be discussed. Summary of the day's activity:

a) Independent take-offs
b) Higher and longer flights
c) Rules of the air
d) Flying among other pilots
e) Flying in weaker lift conditions
f) How to fly close and further from the hill

Day four

The final day will be spent on practicing soaring flights and top landings. The instructor will explain you the day's task. All your flights will be attempted and executed all by yourself without any help. You will be taught how to gain maximum height for the given lifting air. After a short soaring flight you will be introduced to top landings. Landing at the same place where you have taken off. The theory of top landing will be explained. You will be attempting a number of top landings flights.

This session will see you through:
a) Finding lift areas in weaker wind conditions and gaining max. height in available wind conditions.
b) Further top landing practice
c) Introduction to 360 degree turns

d) Various techniques of top landings

Conclusion
During and after this course you will start enjoying the actual thrill of flying. There are many safety related aspects of flying, which are cleared during this course. It is a step towards independent flying. You will have a deeper understanding of flying and the weather. After completion of this course you may continue practice flying by paying a fees of Rs.600/- for each flight you undertake.
